A relaxed, tonal renovation in Hampton that blends the easy charm of Palm Springs with the everyday practicality of Bayside living. Working with a solid 90s/2000s build, DMP Creative transformed this family home into a light, summery, personality-filled haven. Dusty pinks, blonde timbers, brushed brass and handcrafted details layer together to create a home that’s warm, calm and quietly confident.

The Client Brief

A young family wanted their home to feel fresh, playful and summery all year round. Their brief prioritised colour, warmth, texture and personality — balanced with practicality for day-to-day family life.

The Design Story

Originally well-built but outdated, this home had the bones — it just needed a new story.
We opened up the palette, elevated the materials, and introduced a rhythmic flow between spaces.

The concave fluted timber panelling that wraps the entry and stairwell became an instant hero. From there, summer energy flows through every space: the blue gloss finger-tile splashback, handmade terracotta fireplace tiles, golden timber floors and sculptural lighting.

Daily life feels lighter too — dappled sunlight over boucle textures, hand-tufted rugs and a rust-toned Jardan sofa. Upstairs, the mood shifts: a Japan Black fluted headboard and Memphis-inspired lighting create a quiet, moody retreat.

Sustainability guided subtle choices, like refinishing and lime washing the existing red-toned floors to a soft blush instead of replacing them.

This project began with personality — and ended with even more of it.
