Hilltop Haven, Blairgowrie

Hilltop Haven was purchased as a holiday escape, but with a time-poor client and a hastily furnished interior, the home initially felt mismatched and a little underwhelming. DMP Creative was brought in to transform the space into a warm, inviting retreat that felt both relaxed and refined.

Inspired by classic tropical style and contrasted with tribal motifs, the design brings a unique, boho-inflected twist to beachside living. In the lounge, a new wraparound VJ panelled wall in warm tones turns an awkward angle into a deliberate feature, enhancing the home's existing colour palette. Natural materials like raffia and monochromatic tribal patterns add texture and interest without overwhelming the senses.

In the bedrooms, soft blue VJ panelling sets the tone, while oversized palm-themed artworks mimic the impact of wallpaper without the permanence. Plush rugs, velvet and bouclé textiles introduce comfort and a modern edge, and a flowing mosquito net overhead gives a romantic nod to classic Queenslander charm.

Outside, crisp navy, black and white accents are paired with sleek outdoor furniture and soft coastal greys. A new slatted screen cleverly conceals utilities, while concrete pots and striped umbrellas soften the space and offer much-needed shade—creating a laid-back, elevated escape that finally lives up to its name.
