Cargo Residences by Mirvac, Docklands Victoria

Modern open plan living space in a Docklands townhouse styled with layered textures and relaxed seating

A developer display townhouse styled to balance contemporary residential living with professional, work-from-home flexibility.

Project Overview

Cargo by Mirvac is a luxury, multi-level townhouse within the Wharf’s Entrance precinct at Yarra’s Edge, Docklands. Designed as both a residential home and a professional workspace, the display needed to appeal to high-end buyers seeking flexibility, sophistication and longevity in inner-city living.

DMP Creative was engaged to deliver full interior styling, working in collaboration with Domo Furniture to furnish and style the townhouse for the launch of this development phase. The space then transitioned into a sales display, supported by marketing and PR activity in partnership with Domo.

Design Story

The design intent was to create an aspirational yet approachable interior that could speak to a broad buyer profile, without feeling generic or over-styled. The ideal purchaser was a professional working from home who required a semi-separate space where clients could comfortably visit, alongside zones that supported everyday living and, potentially, multi-generational use.

Styling needed to strike a careful balance. The townhouse had to feel elevated and design-led, while remaining neutral enough to avoid alienating buyers with strong personal tastes. Furniture selections were therefore guided by Domo’s curated designer offerings, using high-end pieces to establish credibility and desirability, layered with softer materials and restrained colour to maintain broad appeal.

“Clever, bold and daring. DMP Creative injects a refreshing aesthetic that invites pause and a desire to push beyond the expected” - Joanne Tran, Project Marketing Manager, Mirvac

Key Design Moves

  • A neutral base palette enriched through texture rather than colour

  • Layering of marble, wood-grain veneer, velvet upholstery, rope detailing and powder-coated metals

  • Clear zoning to support both residential living and professional use

  • High-end designer furniture used as anchor pieces to elevate perception without overwhelming the space

Hero furniture pieces included:
Ploum Settee by Ligne Roset
Fifty Armchair by Ligne Roset
Odessa Dining Table by Ligne Roset
Barry Upholstered Bed by Ligne Roset
Cosmo Bul Standard Floor Lamp by HC28

Working Within Developer Constraints

As with most developer-led projects, timeframes were tight and budget considerations were ever-present. Much of the furniture was supplied on loan for the display period, requiring careful planning and flexibility, while decorative elements were procured to complete the overall look.

This project is a strong example of DMP Creative’s ability to step into partially resolved environments, work collaboratively with existing stakeholders and deliver a cohesive, polished outcome under pressure.

Why This Project Matters

Cargo by Mirvac demonstrates how thoughtful interior styling can elevate a developer product beyond floor plans and finishes, helping buyers emotionally connect with how a space can actually be lived in. It also highlights DMP Creative’s experience working within large-scale developments, collaborating with furniture partners, and delivering interiors that balance commercial objectives with genuine residential appeal.
